Hi, I’m Fi — and welcome to Life of a Crazy Mum 💜

I’m a Wales-based writer and content creator, mum to two grown-up children, rescue-dog sidekick to Rocky, and firm believer that life doesn’t stop when the children grow up.

Life of a Crazy Mum started during a very different chapter of my life. Back then, motherhood was a much bigger part of my everyday identity — and naturally, it became a big part of what I wrote about too.

But children grow up. Families change. We change.

And somewhere along the way, Life of a Crazy Mum became less about being Mum and more about figuring out who I am alongside it.

Turns out, there’s a lot of life after Mum.

These days, LOACM is where I share the things that make life interesting: Wales, travel, culture, food and real life.

You’ll find me exploring somewhere new (or rediscovering somewhere on my doorstep), reviewing theatre, heading to gigs, finding independent places to eat and drink, attempting another home project, or planning the next adventure before I’ve quite finished the last one.

I love castles and history, photography, live music, musical theatre, good food, travelling and discovering the stories behind places.

And I’m particularly passionate about Wales. I want to show that you don’t always need to get on a plane to have an adventure. There are extraordinary places, people, businesses, food, culture and experiences right here.

But LOACM isn’t a highlight reel.

The real-life bit matters too.

I’ve always wanted this to be somewhere we can talk about the bits of life that don’t fit neatly into an Instagram square.

That means you’ll also find honest conversations about relationships, family, money, mental health, changing identity, starting again, getting older and those occasional “what on earth am I doing with my life?” moments.

I don’t have all the answers — and I don’t want to pretend that I do.

Sometimes I’m sharing something I’ve learned. Sometimes I’m recommending somewhere brilliant. Sometimes I’m figuring things out right alongside you.

Because one of the things I’ve learned from years of writing online is that telling the truth about ordinary life can make somebody else feel a little less alone.

There’s another side to me, too…

Away from Life of a Crazy Mum, I have a professional career in engineering and leadership.

It’s probably an unexpected combination — engineer by day, lifestyle creator whenever I can squeeze a camera, notebook or adventure into the rest of my life — but that’s rather the point.

None of us is just one thing.

I’m a mum, engineer, writer, creator, traveller, theatre-goer, photographer, dog owner, friend, daughter and woman still working out what she wants the next chapter of her life to look like.

And that’s really what Life of a Crazy Mum has become.

So, what will you find here?

Wales — days out, hidden gems, culture, events and reasons to explore more of this incredible little country.

Travel — honest trips, useful discoveries, food, culture and the things I’d do differently next time.

Culture — theatre, live music, cinema, events and experiences worth getting off the sofa for.

Food — restaurants, independent businesses, local discoveries and plenty of eating my way around wherever I happen to be.

Life — home projects, family, money, wellbeing, midlife and the beautifully imperfect reality behind everything else.

Pull up a chair.

Whether you’ve found me through Google while planning a day out, followed me over from Instagram or TikTok, or you’ve been reading Life of a Crazy Mum since those early parenting days — welcome.

Have a wander. Read something. Find somewhere new to visit. Laugh at one of my disasters. And hopefully leave feeling inspired to add a little more life to your own life.

Because I’m still figuring this next chapter out too.

And I have a feeling the interesting bit might only just be starting.
